Bunker Hill, WV
56 Chevy, Big Window Custom Cab, Pickup.
I
bought the truck in 1980 down in Texas from an old man who had a small
garage. It had been a farm truck and was badly abused with steel
bumpers,
flattened finders, spare on the fender, etc.. The old 6 banger knocked
and
the bushings were out of the king pins.
I worked on it for several years restoring it and drove it to West
Virginia
when I transferred here.
About four years ago, I started pro-streeting it. I took it down to
the
frame and blasted everything. Then I added a Chrysler Cordoba front
end, 31
spline Ford rear with 4:11 gears, disc brake all around with Mustang II
booster under the cab and the 440 MOPAR with a 727 tranny. Just a few
months ago, I found a long cross ram from the late 50's, early 60's.
The
engine is mostly stock with a 292-292, 0.509 lift cam, hemi springs,
shaved
heads, hemi oil pan, electronic ignition, headers, and a touch of
chrome. I
shaved the handles, gas tank filler neck, added '49 Stude tail lights,
a '54
Chevy car grill and made the bed tilt.
It's fun to drive and gets a lot of attention.
